COLD CONNECTIONS (4 week class)

Description: Cold connections are ways to join different metals and objects without soldering. We will cover basic sawing and piercing as well as how to construct cold connections (e.g., simple rivets and wires) and use them to join different metals and found objects.

Also covered will be discussions of design and wearability, stamping to add interest, methods of adding movement, and the incorporation of found objects.

Projects will be assigned so that students will take home at least 2 wearable pieces by the end of classes.

Note: This is a very basic class for students who have little or no experience with metalsmithing who want to learn to put together pieces from found objects. It does not including soldering.
